Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly stunned the supporters by sanctioning the sale of Danny Rose, despite having already sold their right-back Kyle Walker to Manchester City for a heavy £50m.

The talented defender had hit the headlines earlier, when he criticised the club’s transfer policy. Furthermore, the 27-year-old was fuming over the gaffer’s decision of ruling him out from the squad against Arsenal a few weeks ago.

All those incidents taken into consideration, the Spurs boss believes it’s better to offload the English international in the winter window.

The primary club targeting the decorated left-back happens to be their arch-rivals Manchester United. As of now, Jose Mourinho can haul the defender over if he’s ready to spend £45 million for the process.

Moreover, Tottenham are already monitoring other left-backs in order to find a suitable replacement for the Englishman.

Regardless, the instrumental player has privately indicated that he would be keen to play at the new 61,500-capacity White Hart Lane next season, according to the Daily Star. Nonetheless, supporters might witness Rose’s departure either in the summer, or winter transfer window.

With Man City as fellow contenders, the Red Devils could in fact face competition. With plenty of cash at his disposal, Sam Allardyce, newly installed manager of Everton, might also make a move for the talented defender.

Chelsea have also portrayed their interest in hauling over the Leeds United youth academy product recently. Even though a move north is unlikely to materialise, the financial resources of the Blues might mesmerise both the star and his current club, facilitating the transfer.

However, the prevailing contract fastens him to Spurs till 2021, so it remains to be seen what the defender’s future holds.
