Cristiano Ronaldo managed to steal the attention of all the major powerhouses in Europe by revealing his future at Real Madrid to be far from secure. Naturally, among the short list of suitors capable of pulling this mega transfer off, are French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

After having suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League final, a distraught Liverpool fanbase was subjected to some good news by the club, in the form of brand new summer signing Fabinho.

The Reds finalised the transfer of the versatile Monaco man in a £39 million deal on Monday night, thereby adding another exciting prospect to their rapidly developing midfield.

While some sources have focused entirely on Liverpool‘s brand new recruit, others have been claiming that the Merseyside giants beat their arch-rivals Manchester United in the race for the Brazil international’s signature.

However, Manchester Evening News have now revealed that the latter claims are entirely false, as the Red Devils ended their pursuit of the Monaco star in the summer of 2017 itself.

WATCH: Manchester United Agree First Summer Transfer

Following his first season at the helm of the Old Trafford outfit, Jose Mourinho did identify Fabinho as one of his midfield targets, as the player had impressed enormously in the process of helping AS Monaco win the Ligue 1 title.

RELATED NEWS:

But since the Portuguese tactician needed a proper central midfielder – someone unlike Fabinho, who was originally a right-back, and was later converted into a central midfielder due to his team’s demands – Jose turned his attention towards other targets.

The United gaffer, who also needed a midfielder with Premier League experience, then identified Tottenham Hotspur starlet Eric Dier as his target, but thanks to the London club’s unmoving stance in the negotiations, Jose eventually ended up reuniting with his former Chelsea man Nemanja Matic instead.

Fred All But Confirms His Move To Manchester United

And while rumours have suggested that the Mancunians enquired about Fabinho’s availability this summer as well, the fact remains that United have been solely focused on wrapping up a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk superstar Fred, with the ex-Monaco man not even on their radar.

Given their enormous financial resources, several top clubs have often made up Manchester United‘s fake interest in their players in order to drive the prices up as well as smoke out potential bidders, and M.E.N. indicate that the claims of Fabinho snubbing United are the by-products of just that.

Paul Pogba is reportedly considering a return to Juventus this summer.

Ever since his record-breaking return to Manchester United, the Frenchman has failed to replicate the sort of consistent top-drawer performances he regularly displayed during his time in Turin.

The midfielder is also believed to have fallen out with Red Devils’ boss Jose Mourinho, and the Portuguese tactician even excluded the 25-year-old from his starting lineups on a few occasions after rumours of the rift emerged.

Moreover, the United academy graduate refused to completely rule out an exit from the Mancunian outfit in a recent interview, as he claimed: “We are never sure of anything. But contractually, it (him staying at United) is sure.”

7 Things That Will Happen If Real Madrid Sell Bale

With things not going his way, Italian outlet Tuttosport has revealed that Pogba is already considering parting ways with the Old Trafford outfit, and heading back to the Old Lady.

The France international is pondering over returning to the club where he enjoyed an impressive spell laden with several major titles, and his agent, Mino Raiola, is ready to negotiate the switch this summer itself.

Meanwhile, newly crowned European champions Real Madrid have maintained their interested in the talented superstar, despite having lost to Manchester United in this transfer pursuit back in 2016.

The Galacticos already boast of a world-class midfield, but Zinedine Zidane intends to add some fresh young blood in the middle of the park, and what better player than Paul Pogba to do just that?

Manchester United appear to have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe.

The fact that the Red Devils have encountered consistent issues on their defensive flanks is no secret, and former wingers Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia, both 32, being United’s primary full-backs only further reinforce their defensive problems.

Moreover, United’s back-up options in the wide areas, viz. Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian, and Luke Shaw, are all expected to depart from Old Trafford this summer itself.

Naturally, Jose Mourinho has been in the transfer market to bring in apt long-term replacements, and players like Danny Rose and Alex Sandro have already been linked with a move to the English giants.

WATCH: 5 Reasons Why Unai Emery Is Perfect For Arsenal

However, a new full-back has suddenly been touted to join the Mancunian outfit in recent weeks, as several sources have indicated that Monaco’s Djibril Sidibe is the newest player to land himself on United’s radar.

In fact, France Football even went on to claim that the Reds were closing to finalising the 25-year-old’s transfer, with the player likely to complete the switch before the start of the 2018 World Cup.

RELATED NEWS:

OFFICIAL: Another Talented Star Agrees Manchester United Deal

But now, contrary news has been revealed by Le10, as the French outlet has claimed that the Premier League giants may have hit a massive roadblock in their pursuit of the France international.

The report states that Monaco are demanding way too much money for the player, who happens to be contracted with the Ligue 1 club until 2022. But United aren’t prepared to meet the gigantic price tag, despite their enormous financial coffers.

Atletico Madrid have also been expressing their interest in Sidibe, and Monaco hope that the two European juggernauts will engage in a bidding war for the player, and lead his price up to £50m – the same amount Manchester City paid to sign Benjamin Mendy.

This certainly comes as a setback for United, who now intend to withdraw their interest from the defender in the hopes of driving his price down and simultaneously search for alternative full-back targets.

Man Utd Offered Chance To Sign Portugal International By Super Agent

Man Utd Offered Chance To Sign Portugal International By Super Agent

Agents play a crucial role these days in ensuring that players choose their next destinations in a manner that is most favorable and lucrative.

As a result, young stars, in particular, are often straight up offered in deals to big names in an attempt to secure futures.

Now, Man Utd may be on the receiving end of one such starlet, and the player in question may prove to be a great purchase.

As per FcInterNews.it, super-agent Kia Joorabchian has offered United with an opportunity to sign Joao Mario in the summer. The 25-year-old Portuguese has been on loan at West Ham for the past few months, and now, his parent-club Inter may be looking at other options.

WATCH: 7 Players United Need To Become Great Again

The source adds that the Nerazzurri want around £22-26 million for the midfielder. His stint at West Ham has led to two goals and one assist in 13 appearances. It is understood that a one-year long loan spell with an option to buy is on the table.

At the same time, the agent is also seeking other options, with Valencia also considered to be a side interested in signing the player.

Moreover, West Ham themselves may retain his services, as they are reported to be waiting on the thumbs-up of their preferred new manager Manuel Pellegrini before making a move. It is important to note that Mario was happy with his spell in England.

Jose Mourinho is clearly a fan of the player, as he has stated in a recent interview regarding the prospect of purchasing him: “Why not? Joao just had to settle down. He is a player who thinks and acts quickly, he has recovered his speed of thought and execution, intensity and aggressiveness. I liked it in every game more.”

Will a move be made by United in the coming days, or will a bigger player be sought?

According to a report in The Telegraph, Soyuncu is nearing a move to London in a deal that could be in the region of £35 million.

Several other clubs were also said to be monitoring the player, but the report states that Arsenal are likely to land him.

Arsenal have given the duty of making appointments to head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, who joined the club last year from German club Borussia Dortmund. And basically he is the one that has sanctioned the move of the 21-year-old player.

Arsenal defenders haven’t quite lived up to expectations after shipping in 51 goals in the 2017-18 season. That was 24 more than what Manchester City conceded.

The work will therefore be vital for Soyuncu, who has made a total of 47 appearances for Freiburg in two seasons. The Turkish international will hope to be a vital cog in the Arsenal set-up and impress his new manager, no matter who gets the nod.

Besides him, reports also state that the club is eyeing Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Manchester United will have to start next season bereft of a fine name on their roster.

The club faced a shock announcement on Saturday evening when Jose Mourinho’s long-term assistant manager announced that he would be departing the club at the end of this season.

Rui Faria has held a 17-year-long relationship with Mourinho at the numerous clubs in which the gaffer managed and managed to nurture a really strong bond.

His stint at United also left a strong impact on him, as he stated in his departing statement: “I would also like to thank Manchester United and all the clubs where I have had the privilege of working during this period. I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to all the staff and players who, in different ways, have made an important contribution to my growth as a person and as a professional.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has admitted that he has been in contact with Antoine Griezmann’s agent.

Following the Frenchman’s failed move to United last summer due to the transfer ban imposed on Atletico Madrid, the Red Devils seem to have fallen behind in the race for his services, with Barcelona emerging as the new favourites.

The Catalan giants are eager to boost their firepower, especially with Luis Suarez now 31, and they have identified Griezmann as the perfect candidate to add to their already star-studded frontline.

Amid the speculation surrounding the France international’s future, however, Barcelona’s president has dropped a hint for the things to come, by admitting that he has indeed been in contact with the Atletico talisman’s agent.

While recently speaking to radio station RAC1, Bartomeu revealed (via Daily Mail): “We are analysing the season and we will see what we will do with ins and outs.

“I have bumped into him (Griezmann) occasionally in the Balearic Islands. I have not spoke to him this year but I did speak to his agent in October. With (Atletico Madrid president Enrique) Cerezo, I have spoken about a lot of things, but not about this.”

His comments clearly indicate that Barcelona’s interest in Griezmann is quite genuine, thereby making a potential summer transfer extremely likely. Moreover, Luis Suarez’s recent comments about this sensational move have only strengthened the possibility.

Bartomeu also spoke about Barcelona’s 2-2 draw against Real Madrid in Sunday’s El Clasico, by adding: “We are very happy with (coach Ernesto Valverde’s) work and that of the players.

“What they have done and the run they have gone on. When they sent off Sergi Roberto, I suffered a bit thinking about the second half, but then we went on to have a great game.”
