While speculation often reigns supreme when it comes to sour relationships in football, occasionally the truth seeps through.

This usually occurs in moments of obvious dissent during match-days, and regardless of whether the foul dynamic in question is one that is shared between a player and a manager or players themselves, sparks always fly.

The most high-profile clash of egos that has been seen of recent is the reported fallout between Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba at Manchester United.

With the Portuguese gaffer allegedly stripping the Frenchman of his vice-captaincy, it is becoming very hard to dismiss the rumors. Now, there may be visual proof of this bad rapport, as a recent training footage shows an interaction between the two.

— Manchester United (@MUnitedFrance) September 26, 2018

Wow, this is all so dramatic. Mourinho can be heard saying "Paul, get out", who then seems to ask why and clearly isn't going anywhere. pic.twitter.com/ekynTrm2Ix

— Sport Witness (@Sport_Witness) September 26, 2018

The icy interaction, prior to which Pogba seemed in a positive mood, clearly had a momentous exchange of words. Throughout the apparent spar, Pogba appeared to be defending himself, akin to his encounters with referees during his on-field antics.

However, it is important to note that without the context of the actual words that were exchanged, interpreting the encounter as a major fallout between the duo is also slightly wishful thinking.

RELATED:

Player Ratings: Manchester United 2-2 Derby County (7-8 Penalties)

Further still, the speculation that surrounds the duo adds to the apparent drama, and one can be forgiven for reading into the situation too much.

Then again, the body language of the Frenchman is highly suggestive, as is the cold posture of Mourinho. While the gaffer is renowned for his hard love, this is one saga where the kind of words they exchange can have large implications.

An exit from the Carabao Cup after a defeat to Derby County, while not a huge loss, still doesn’t look good on Mourinho’s result sheet for this season. At the same time, neither does Pogba’s attitude. Is Old Trafford not big enough for both of them?

Paul Pogba continues to be the center of attention at Manchester United as well as the cornerstone of media stories in recent times.

The Frenchman’s dissension with manager Jose Mourinho has been the subject of much debate since the new season rolled in, and poor performances by the club in matches this season have added fuel to rumours that Pogba could be on the way out of Old Trafford.

Pogba said after the game against Wolves, and BBC Sport reported,  that the Red Devils needed to ‘attack’ more than they ended up doing and that playing at home demands a better display.

“We are at home and we should play much better against Wolves. We are here to attack,”the World Cup winner said.

“When we play like [that] it’s easier for us.”

The game against Wolves seemed like a must-win for the ailing former Premier League champions, and despite taking a first half lead through Brazilian Fred, the home side was unable to hold on for victory, with Joao Moutinho smashing an equaliser in the second half.

Pogba may have played well enough in the game, but United weren’t good enough at several stages throughout the match, a trait which is reminiscent of their state of affairs since Sir Alex Ferguson retired back in 2013.

“I think teams are scared when they see Manchester United attacking and attacking. That was our mistake,”the 25-year-old added.

Some people make polemic even from “good morning” to create drama 🙄 Big Pogoodmorning everyone hope u get it twisted 😂

— Paul Pogba (@paulpogba) September 24, 2018

“Maybe the attitude should be better and we should play better because, again, we are at Old Trafford and we should just attack and press like we did against Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal last season.”

Pogba’s frustrations have been echoed by the majority of United fans around the world who have already lost their patience with Mourinho and are petitioning for Zinedine Zidane to take over in Manchester.

What Juventus Players Said To Ronaldo When He Cried After Red Card

What Juventus Players Said To Ronaldo When He Cried After Red Card

REUTERS/Heino Kalis

Responses to the same situation can vary significantly, and it is only human to differ on opinions. Something of the sort was on clear display on Wednesday, when Juventus faced off against Valencia in the Champions League.

The match saw a rare sight – Cristiano Ronaldo being shown a red card. The Portuguese forward was sent off in the 29th minute following a hair-pulling incident, which was reviewed by the referee before issuing him the suspension.

Ronaldo didn’t take the incident lightly, and left the pitch utterly broken and in tears. However, how his teammates reacted to the incident is also important.

It has now been revealed precisely what his teammate Federico Bernardeschi told him as he walked off the pitch in tears. The Italian winger, in an attempt to console the superstar, told him: “You’re number one.”

He further added later on: “To me the decision wasn’t the best one, but if that is what the ref saw, what could we do? We know how much Ronaldo wanted to impress tonight. He had been gearing up for this and to help us win. I feel for him because I know how much he wanted to start with a bang in the Champions League for Juventus. It went differently but when he is back, you will see for sure.”

RELATED:

This Is What Ronaldo Said To The Referee After Being Dismissed Against Valencia

This is in sharp contrast to how another of Ronaldo’s teammates responded. In fact, Emre Can’s reaction to the move which led to the red card has resulted in heavy controversy.

The German had this to say about Ronaldo being sent off for the ‘hair-pulling’: “That’s supposed to be a red? I just heard that he said it was because of hair pulling. We’re not women, we’re playing football.”

Needless to say, the comment didn’t go down well, and the former Liverpool player has since tweeted: “I would like to state that the comments made were never focused on nor meant to degrade women, women’s football or equality in any form.

RELATED:

How Many Games Ronaldo Will Miss – Will He Return To Old Trafford?

“Everyone who knows me knows about my respect for women, equality and respect. My intention was to stick up for my team mate regarding a wrong decision which could have affected our game. I sincerely apologise if any of the comments I made have caused any harm.”

Ronaldo is all set to miss out on minimum one match as a result of the red card, with the game in question being an encounter against BSC Young Boys.

If further action isn’t taken, he should be all set to take on his former club Manchester United the next time he wishes to resume wreaking damage in the Champions League.

Eric Bailly Could Be On The Move In January; Two Premier League Clubs Interested

Eric Bailly Could Be On The Move In January; Two Premier League Clubs Interested
Manchester United's Eric Bailly.

Reuters/Jason Cairnduff

Manchester United may be in the market in January to sign some top defenders, but one defender of their own could be on his way out of the club, Mirror are reporting.

The report suggests that Eric Bailly could be the unfortunate party that is asked to leave Old Trafford come January, as United look to refurbish their defence with players such as Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire.

Bailly was at fault during a shambolic defensive display by the Red Devils at the Amex Stadium against Brighton and Hove Albion recently, and while Bailly wasn’t the only guilty party that day, others have been forgiven by manager Jose Mourinho.

This has led to speculation over the Ivorian’s future in Manchester, which was only compounded after Mourinho decided to leave him out of the eleven for all the matches following his mistake at Brighton.

But not all would be lost for the 24-year-old, as Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are said to be keen on signing the player if Manchester United decide he is surplus to their requirements.

Manchester United Identify Spanish Midfielder As Their Next Marquee Signing

Arsenal boss Unai Emery and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino both have history in Spain’s elite league, and have seen the development of Bailly, especially during his time at Villarreal.

Both managers have been impressed with the physique and defensive capability of the center-half, and could be in line to make a bid come the winter transfer window.

What Happened Between Salah And Mane During Tottenham Clash Is Really A Worrying Sign For Liverpool

As of now, however, Bailly would need to focus on his current side, who signed him with the belief that he would be the one to fill the void in central defence in the long run.

Despite some strong performances at certain stages last season, injuries have hampered much of the youngster’s playing time with the English giants. Whether he can rediscover some of his old form in the coming matches remains to be seen.

ANALYSIS: The Rise Of Luke Shaw In 2018-19

BlameFootball
ANALYSIS: The Rise Of Luke Shaw In 2018-19
Manchester United's Luke Shaw celebrates scoring their second goal.

Reuters/Andrew Boyers

The career of Luke Shaw is one that aptly captures the trend of a heroic promise that is shattered with disaster, and following a rugged path to recovery, ends in salvation.

The English left-back had big things ahead of him from the ripe age of 16 itself, when at Southampton, he became a sight to be reckoned with, and by the time he was 18, Manchester United capitalized on his brilliance to make him the most expensive teenager in club football, before injury cut his debut season short.

Those woes have plagued him ever since, and the path to regaining his form was tough, made harder still by the critical presence of Jose Mourinho. However, while this season has spelled below-par showings for Manchester United as a team, Shaw has excelled as an individual, and has arguably been the side’s best performer.

Here’s why he is most certainly the solution to United’s long-held left-back woes:

At 23 years of age, it is his youth that is arguably the club’s biggest asset. Having slowly established his presence and worked his way up the roster, Shaw can now hope to remain at Old Trafford for the long term. This works, particularly well in tandem with Young’s growing age.

Shaw is a perfect one-up to Young, whose inexperience as a full-back is beginning to show. When compared to the veteran, the youngster packs way more speed and brings more all-round balance to the team. Further, his tendency to link up will be highly beneficial to attackers Sanchez and Lukaku, as the Belgian striker will get more opportunity to function solely as a clinical finisher.

Reuters/Lee Smith

This was in full view during the 2-0 win against Burnley, where both goals had Shaw orchestrating the origin. These link-ups, both with his fellow full-back across the field as well as with the attackers, is a force to be reckoned with, and echoes the classical United attacking style.

On an evolutionary note, his skill-set will help the Mancunian giants in developing a pressing style. This tendency to press high up in the field, often on the cusp of the final third, has been immensely beneficial for the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Shaw’s speed and his defensive capability will aid United in finally integrating such an approach into their style and winning the ball early, a move that has been long overdue. If executed well, the club will no longer have to rely on merely timing their counter-attacks from the other end, a ploy that is increasingly becoming over-predictable, particularly in a Jose Mourinho side.

What he brings to the shape of the formation is also crucial. Since Shaw isn’t hesitant at making pacey forward runs, an attacking width will be maintained throughout. This is starkly different from Young, who is more apt to cut in or pass the ball early, a surprise given his background as an attacking winger. However, with Shaw on the ball, United can compensate for the lack of offensive punch that Mourinho’s more defensive tactics tend to result in.

The manager himself took an enormous turn on his critical assessment of the left-back, hailing him to be a complete player. This is due to the complementary nature of his defensive skill-set and attacking tendency. What is particularly interesting is Shaw’s ability to take out the entire opposition’s defense with a well-timed attacking run on the flank. This leaves his teammates with the simple task of finding him, and allows him to take advantage of the free space that is created, apt to set up a goal.

Man City's Benjamin Mendy in action.

REUTERS/Phil Noble

Lastly, former Arsenal defender Martin Keown laid out the potential future for Shaw when he declared in a recent interview: “If Shaw keeps getting down that wing and keeps making things happen, then there is no reason why he could not be England’s equivalent of Benjamin Mendy for Manchester City.”

The French left-back has been a crucial cog in City’s recent success, and if Mourinho is able to stay consistent on his faith in Shaw, then the youngster can do the same and complete his hero’s arc, establishing himself as a vital presence in Manchester in the process.

REUTERS/Albert Gea

FIFA 19 is all set to be released on September 28, and those football fans who simply can’t have enough of merely watching the game week in and week out will be eager for the latest edition of the game.

While massive improvements have been made over the years and each edition brings in more changes to ensure the overall experience is top-notch, often what makes the headlines for it is not a bug fixed or a subtle feature introduced.

What fans are instead on the lookout for are the ratings that their favorite talents are assigned each year, and EA has clearly caught wind of it, as they reveal the player cards in batches.

Now, the latest run of ratings, scaling from the top 60 to 41. has been released.

The list is quite predictably the most exciting one yet, and reflects quite decently on the skill-set of the players included, in most cases. The likes of Sadio Mane, Ivan Perisic and Raphael Varane just made it into the run, with an overall rating of 86 being the cut-off, while the list boasts of ratings as high as 88.

That top honor, coming in at 41, was bagged by PSG’s Thiago Silva, with his teammate-cum-wonderkid Kylian Mbappe close behind with a rating of 87.

The likes of Gerard Pique and Ivan Rakitic stamped in Barcelona’s presence, while Romelu Lukaku followed close, being joined only by Alexis Sanchez as a co-representative of Manchester United.

The Catalan giants were really all over this list, with the prior mentioned names being joined by Samuel Umtiti and Jordi Alba as well.

Of course, this list is a mere tease to what is yet to come, with quite a few top-rated stars from the real world yet to have been assigned their numbers. When will the next batch drop?

Both Pogba And Mourinho Have Taken A Surprise Decision Together

REUTERS/Phil Noble

Manchester United has been the battleground for the clash of several egos over its long and illustrious history.

Managers and players don’t always get along well with each other, and often, the high position that both enjoy in the sights of the fans is ample cause for sparks to fly.

However, the most recent dispute that has plagued the club is the alleged problem between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho.

Reported from months now, the tense relationship has been the oft-quoted reason behind the player’s links with European giants, with Barcelona being strongly touted to sign the Frenchman over the summer. However, a major update may have occurred in the rift between the two.

United Star Whose Contract Will Expire Next Summer Keen To Sign New Deal

As per the Mirror, Mourinho and Pogba have decided to call a truce on their differences and focus on what is best for the club. The report states that the midfielder has reconsidered pushing for a move in the winter window, and will stick around till the end of the season.

It appears that the truce in question could be similar to the ‘one more season’ pact that SAF made with Ronaldo back in 2008. It is clear that some sort of tension exists between the two, despite varying degrees of claims being made by both Jose and Paul.

Pogba is still keen on departing, and will likely discuss his future at the start of next season, with Barcelona and Juventus still believed to be possible destinations for the 25-year-old.

Being a product of the United youth academy, coupled with the state of the club at present, may be the reasons why he won’t call quits just yet, despite the differences between him and Mourinho.

All in all, it is clear that the higher-ups at the club value Pogba highly, both for his commercial appeal as well as the tactical brilliance he brings to the club. In view of this, what does the future hold for him?

Pereira has managed to earn Mourinho’s trust this season. The 22-year-old was one of the best performers for the Red Devils during their pre-season tour in the United States, and retained his spot in the starting XI for the first three games.

But the Manchester United gaffer had to switch tactics this weekend, and Pereira was dropped from the away game against Burnley.

While his United career flourishes, Pereira has named the club he wishes to retire at. Despite being born in Belgium, his heart lies in Brazil, and he wants to play for Santos before he hangs up his boots.
