SINGAPORE -- On the whole, Paris Saint-Germain's 2018 International Champions Cup (ICC) campaign was not a great success. PSG star Neymar believes the Serie A will be a league to watch once again after Cristiano Ronaldo’s move.

Juventus have pulled off one of the best transfers for this summer. Real Madrid and Ronaldo weren’t on good terms, as the latter once again demanded higher wages for the third consecutive summer – demands which weren’t met by Florentino Perez.

Manchester United seemed to be the most likely destination for the Portuguese star, but Jose Mourinho passed on the opportunity.

The Bianconeri then swooped in and sealed the deal for a reported fee of €112 million, and more than half of this amount has already been recovered by Juve through Ronaldo’s jersey sale.

Multiple reports suggested that Neymar could be the one to fill Ronaldo’s boots at Real Madrid. But this week, the 26-year-old squashed the rumours and hopes, by stating: “Everyone knows my objective, why I went to Paris. I want to have success with that club and I hope next season could be wonderful.”

Ronaldo’s move to Juventus shocked a number of football fans, as they expected him to retire at the Bernabeu. Neymar also had his say on this switch, stating how the 33-year-old will revolutionize Italian football and make it worth watching again.

This Is Why Paul Pogba Wants To Return To Juventus

“I think Cristiano Ronaldo will change Italian football,” said the Brazilian. “It will again be the Italian football that I watched when I was a child because Cristiano Ronaldo is a great player.”

The former Barcelona forward is known to be a huge fan of Cristiano. Neymar further revealed that he was happy that the Portuguese star decided to join Juventus and wished him luck, but not when he plays against Paris Saint-Germain.

“He is a legend in football, a genius. I’m happy for his decision. I think it is a difficult decision for him so I wish him good luck, but not against Paris,” the 26-year-old added.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid continue to search for a Galactico signing who could replace Ronaldo this summer. Reports suggested that Neymar, Eden Hazard, and Kylian Mbappe were on the shortlist.

But with the former now dropping off the radar, Hazard seems to be the likeliest candidate to join Los Blancos. World Cup Golden Boy Mbappe is a possibility, although he did join PSG on a permanent deal only recently.

Manchester United are hoping to complete moves for Alex Sandro, Harry Maguire, and Kalidou Koulibaly before the transfer window closes this summer.

The Red Devils have been pretty busy this transfer window. Jose Mourinho has already completed the signings of three players – Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant.

But the Portuguese boss isn’t done with his business just yet, as he looks to build a squad that can challenge for the Premier League as well as Champions League next season. According to the Times, Manchester United are still looking to make three signing before the transfer window closes on August 9.

De Gea has been amazing in goal for the Reds, but Mourinho isn’t convinced with his defensive options. Therefore, as per the report, Alex Sandro, Harry Maguire, and Kalidou Koulibaly are the three players Jose wants to bring in before the start of next season.

Mourinho is said to be a fan of Juventus’ Alex Sandro, and United have been linked with the player since the beginning of this summer. Luke Shaw hasn’t been able to impress the United boss over the past two seasons, which also led to Ashley Young becoming Man United’s first choice left-back last season.

But Jose prefers to bring in a specialist this summer. However, Juventus continue to demand a £50 million fee for the Brazilian defender, which is too high, according to United officials.

The Reds are keen to improve their centre-back area this summer. Toby Alderweireld was their top target for most of this window, but Daniel Levy is proving to be very difficult to negotiate with.

Therefore, Manchester United have turned their attention towards England’s World Cup star Harry Maguire and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

Mourinho is set to replace Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, whereas Eric Bailly is likely to be the main man in the heart of the defence next season. Lindelof did find it difficult in the Premier League last season, but was impressive for Sweden at the World Cup.

It will be interesting to see who United’s centre-back pairing for next season will be, as the Mancunians start their Premier League campaign against Leicester City on August 10.

Manchester United are reportedly targeting moves for Bayern Munich duo Thiago and Robert Lewandowski.

The Red Devils have signed three players so far this window, viz. Diogo Dalot, Fred, and Lee Grant, but are yet to bring in a marquee name that would improve the squad’s overall quality.

United have been consistently linked with Gareth Bale throughout the summer, as the forward’s Real Madrid future continues to hang in the balance. But whether he will seek a departure entirely depends on how important a role new boss Julian Lopetegui offers the Welshman.

The Mancunian giants, meanwhile, continue to look for major additions, and according to the latest report from The Independent, Bayern Munich stars Thiago and Robert Lewandowski have been identified as potential summer signings.

Despite having signed Fred and secured Marouane Fellaini’s future with a new contract, United seem to have targeted Thiago to further improve their midfield department. The player was linked with the Reds back in 2013 as well, until he decided to snub then manager David Moyes and reunite with Pep Guardiola at Bayern.

Real Madrid Will Sell Gareth Bale To Man Utd Only On One Condition

As per the report, Thiago is currently waiting for a chance to return to Barcelona. But if no offer from Catalonia comes in, Manchester could very well be his next destination.

Along with the Spanish midfielder, United are also interested in Robert Lewandowski, who remains one of the best strikers on the planet.

However, the 29-year-old’s goalscoring antics have naturally attracted attention from all across Europe as well, with Chelsea and Real Madrid also rumoured to be in the race for his services.

Bayern are supposedly ready to part ways with both these aforementioned players, and not many clubs apart from Manchester United have the need as well as the resources to pull off these major signings.

Could Old Trafford be set to welcome two big names this summer?

Toby Alderweireld To Manchester United: Huge Boost For The Red Devils

Reuters/Matthew Childs

The transfer season is bound to zoom to a close once the World Cup comes to an end this Sunday. Most clubs will be focusing on their pre-season tasks, and in forming a team that will meet their set goals ahead of the upcoming campaign.

A crucial step in this will be to wrap up those transfers that were perhaps left hanging before the World Cup and maybe even revisit those that may still have some inkling of a hope left in them.

Manchester United may soon find themselves to be that kind of a club, and the position in question is a crucial one.

According to Yahoo Sport UK, United have been given renewed encouragement in their efforts to sign Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham.

The London club has been believed to be open to selling the Belgian centre-back for quite a while now, and the Red Devils have always been up for the deal.

United To Launch A Bid For Belgian Star Following Their World Cup Exit

However, talks died down around a month ago, when reports emerged that United wouldn’t be pursuing the 29-year-old as a result of Spurs trying to hike his asking price as high as £75 million.

The reason this would never work is that the defender has a clause in his contract that would bring his price down to £25 million after this window.

Manchester United Dubbed As Favourites To Sign England’s World Cup Hero

As a result, Tottenham are bound to have a change of heart, as they are not too keen on playing the Belgian star either, with Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen having emerged as the first-choice central pairing.

United are in desperate need for a leader in the heart of their defense, and if the Mancunian giants are indeed serious about their intent of winning major titles next season, such a transfer is precisely what they require. Is a rekindling of this saga about to arrive?

Man United To Swoop In For Brazilian Star Following His Nation’s World Cup Exit

Reuters/Andrew Boyers

Brazil were expertly eliminated out of the World Cup by a smart Belgian side in the quarter-finals itself. This added to the woes of the South American nation, who were one of the favorites to win it all at the start of the tournament in Russia.

As a result of the premature exodus, a whole flurry of immensely talented individuals will find themselves let off early.

Now, it will be interesting to see if any of them are pried away by clubs that will choose to take advantage of this unexpected trend. Manchester United certainly seem to have this idea.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils will renew their interest in bringing Willian to Old Trafford, and are closing in on the 29-year-old as a result of Brazil’s exit.

WATCH: What PSG will do to stop Neymar from joining Real Madrid

Willian has prior expressed that he would take the decision on his future only after devoting the World Cup solely to his nation. With that avenue now shut, is a reunion with Jose Mourinho finally on the cards?

RELATED:

Chelsea Will Sell Willian To United On Just One Condition

The Portuguese gaffer is believed to be the biggest fan of Willian, who performed well under him during the former’s stint at Chelsea, and the report adds that the Mancunian outfit is eying a £60 million deal for his services.

However, the deal won’t be an easy one to secure, as Barcelona too, are reported to be heavily interested in signing the player, who can function aptly as a winger.

RELATED:

Why Fred Did Not Play During Brazil’s World Cup Campaign

While this outing with Brazil was certainly a disappointment, the manner in which Willian functioned certainly makes one question as to why on earth the London Blues will agree to sell him.

However, Manchester United fans too, will be wondering if purchasing another player of such an age is the solution to their dilemma, particularly with the plethora of young attacking talents already at their disposal.

Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for Leonardo Bonucci, who could leave Milan after their European ban.

Manchester United are looking to plunge all the holes in their squad this summer. Jose Mourinho completed moves for Fred and Dalot in the space of a few days. The United gaffer is now looking to sign a centre-back before the start of next season.

Smalling and Jones have been pretty average, with new signing Lindelof finding it difficult to adjust to English football. Mourinho is said to have made an 8-man shortlist to find a partner for Eric Bailly, according to reports.

Argentina bowed out of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2018 after a cracking 7-goal encounter against France that saw the South American giants fall short.

Lionel Messi was the main topic of discussion as he saw his side part the coveted tournament.

The Barcelona stalwart though made his presence felt with two assists in the game despite failing to score in the knockout stages for the fourth World Cup in a row.

Argentina lost the impetus in a tie dominated by 19-year-old Kylian Mbappe, who gave France a lifeline as Didier Deschamp’s side progressed to the quarters.

For France, midfielder Paul Pogba had a commanding say in midfield alongside the experienced N’Golo Kante and Blaise Matuidi. Deschamps benefitted in his tactical masterclass and it was Pogba, who attracted attention post the win as well.
