Rivals on the pitch and bitter neighbors on the ground, the two Premier League giants, Manchester United and Manchester City, have often taken their fights to the financial realm as well.

The most recent instance of this would be the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, with the Chilean initially touted to join Manchester City, before the Red Devils swooped in with a financially superior offer.

However, that might not be all for this winter window, and it appears that yet another target will be contested hotly by the Mancunian clubs.

WATCH: 7 Problems At Liverpool Right Now

As per Express, United have entered the fray to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, and are willing to pay the requisite £50 million to secure his services before Wednesday’s deadline.

Real Madrid Set To Offer 2 Players Plus Cash For David De Gea

The major issue would be Manchester City, who have been heavily linked with the Brazilian for quite a while now, and will not seek to be trumped by their rivals yet again.

With Guardiola not having made a single major transfer so far this window, this is one swoop he will not be eager to miss out on after the Sanchez fiasco.

But here too, financial weight might reign supreme, as City, despite their financial stature, are apparently unwilling to splash too much of a cash for a single talent. This would certainly open up the doors for the Old Trafford outfit to make the transfer.

But it would be interesting to see how the 24-year-old will fit in the United squad, which is already well endowed in terms of attacking talent as well as youngsters seeking to make a concrete mark.

To add to that is the Jose Mourinho claim that the side might not have any more role to play in the few days left in the ongoing transfer window.

Regardless, the chance to spite their neighbors twice in the same month might be too good of an opportunity for the Reds to pass, and in less than a week, the record will be set clear.

Manchester United supporters have been waiting for the announcement of a confirmed Alexis Sanchez deal for a while now.

And shreds of evidence have surfaced the internet recently claiming the star’s advent at the Old Trafford stadium.

The 29-year-old has been snapped wearing the Manchester United No.7 shirt and taking selfies a little while back. And according to the latest sources, the Wenger’s valuable asset will officially be a Mancunian by Monday.

The talented forward had previously received a call, reportedly informing him about a breakthrough in negotiations on Friday night.

Accordingly, he made the journey up north then straight away. Although he was included in the squad Wenger picked to square their horns with Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, the Chilean made up his mind to leave for Manchester.

Subsequently, the instrumental figure completed his medical on Sunday afternoon at the Carrington training ground.

With his contract dilemma at Arsenal nearing its end, the Chile international would evidently be looking to fortify his form, and polishing himself up for embarking his Manchester United career. The winger would be focusing on impressing Mourinho from now on, if the transfer status is legit.

With a new set of supporters behind his back, the talisman would be looking for a fresh start at his new club, envisioning his prospects at Old Trafford under the Special One.

Matteo Darmian could make a potential return to Italy as Serie A Champions, Juventus, reportedly make contact with the 28-year-old defender.

The Italy international was brought in by former United boss, Louis Van Gaal for €18 million from Torino back in 2015.

However, since then Darmian’s career has gone downhill and as a result, he has been regularly linked with a return to Italy in recent weeks.

And though, a move away from England this month seems to be a long-shot, recent report by Calciomercato claims that the 28-year-old could still make an early exit from Old Trafford.

It was claimed by the Italian outlet that after Roma and Napoli, defending Serie A Champions, Juventus, have also shown interest in landing Darmian.

Juve are currently facing major problems in the right-back area and with Stephan Lichtsteiner moving closer to the exit, the Old Lady is keen on acquiring a renowned defender to fill the role. And for now, Juventus’ CEO, Beppe Marotta, has shortlisted the Man Utd defender as a potential candidate for the job.

The report mentioned that the Italian giants had “already begun making contact with Darmian’s representatives to understand his situation and get a better sense of where they stand in his mind”.

Darmian has made a total of 79 appearances for the Old Trafford outfit with 11 of those coming this season. The Italian right-back has also scored once and produced three assists so far for the Red Devils.

Bordeaux whizkid Malcom is reportedly taking English lessons amid rising interest from multiple Premier League clubs.

The 20-year-old is currently being eyed by the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. And while the London clubs are closely monitoring his situation, their rivals from across the country, Man Utd, are already plotting a move for the youngster.

The Red Devils had reportedly inquired about the Brazilian starlet last month in order to strengthen their attacking line-up after failing to land a top quality winger in the 2017 summer transfer window.

WATCH: Top 10 United January Transfer Targets

United boss, Jose Mourinho, is an established admirer of the Bordeaux winger, and regards him as ‘the best young player in Europe’.

The Special One is reportedly ready to shell out £40 million to acquire the wide-man’s services this January. However, his plan does include loaning him back to Bordeaux after the transfer.

Regardless, Malcom is already preparing for life in England, as he recently posted an Instagram photo from one of his study sessions featuring a written test and some flashcards that read “I’m”, “Good Morning” and “Week,” along with the caption “Come On”.

The former Corinthian starlet has scored seven goals and bagged four assists in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season, and has represented Brazil at Under-20 and Under-23 levels.

Along with the English powerhouses, Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich have also expressed an interest in bringing the young lad to Allianz Arena. But for now, a move to the Premier League seems the likelist thanks to his Instagram post.
