Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for Leonardo Bonucci, who could leave Milan after their European ban.

Manchester United are looking to plunge all the holes in their squad this summer. Jose Mourinho completed moves for Fred and Dalot in the space of a few days. The United gaffer is now looking to sign a centre-back before the start of next season.

Smalling and Jones have been pretty average, with new signing Lindelof finding it difficult to adjust to English football. Mourinho is said to have made an 8-man shortlist to find a partner for Eric Bailly, according to reports.

Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld was said to be on the top of this list, but his valuation is an issue for the Red Devils. Therefore, Manchester United seem to have turned their attention elsewhere this week.

UEFA handed AC Milan with a 1-year ban from European competitions due to failure to comply with FFP restrictions. The Serie A giants are going to challenge this decision in the coming days, but it still leaves their top stars vulnerable to the transfer market, as they look for regular European football.

Last summer’s top signing, Leonardo Bonucci, might eye a move away from San Siro. According to The Sun, United are closely monitoring the situation, as they want to sign the Italian defender.

Bonucci spent seven years at Juventus before deciding to move on to a new project. During his time in Turin, he won 6 consecutive Serie A titles and played a key role in taking them to the finals of the Champions League twice.

Mourinho believes the 31-year-old will be the voice required in the heart of the defence, which has been missing since the departure of Nemanja Vidic.

It wouldn’t be hard for Manchester United to lure him out, considering the player will get to play in the Champions League once again.
