Paul Pogba starred in Manchester United‘s recent 2-1 win over Everton in the Premier League, but it’s not just his goal and assist that grabbed the headlines.
The Frenchman’s incredible 26-step run-up for his penalty kick instantly became a trending topic on social media, with supporters and rivals alike expressing their opinions regarding the unusual ritual.
While manager Jose Mourinho urged the midfielder to change his approach, Pogba himself explained his style by confessing the following: “I always try and destabilize the keeper, maybe they know how I take penalties, maybe I should practice to change it, if the keepers know my step.”
Despite the World Cup winner’s defence, however, social media continued to discuss his run-up, with a special trend, #ThingsYouCanDoDuringPogbasPenaltyRunUp, emerging from the incident.

As the tweet points out, the Jamaican sprinter-turned-footballer did actually complete his world record-breaking 100-meter sprint back in 2009 a whole 0.32 seconds faster than Pogba finished the short run-up to his penalty against the Toffees.

FFA CEO David Gallop has announced the #GETONSIDE campaign to help Australia's bid for the 2023 Women's World Cup.
Every state and territory has expressed interest in hosting a match if Australia's bid for the 2023 Women's World Cup is successful, but legendary Matilda Lisa De Vanna doubts she will still be playing then.
The FFA announced the bid in June 2017 and on Monday launched a AusBid2023.com website for Australians to #GetOnside and submit registrations of support.
FFA boss David Gallop said he hoped the bid winner would be known around the time of the next World Cup in France in June-July 2019.

David De Gea has engineered many a successful comeback and victories for Manchester United. Despite successfully keeping him away from a Real Madrid steal over the past seasons, United now have time as their next adversary in keeping the Spaniard at the Theatre of Dreams.
De Gea is out of contract at the end of this season, and although some form of extension may remain, the club’s next decision will be either to cash out on him, or keep him till the end and then let him go for free.
As of now, contract renewal talks have been going on for months without avail, and teams like Juventus and PSG have allegedly been showing interest. Now, the man himself has had his say on contract talks.
Speaking to Sky Sports after United’s Champions League defeat, De Gea stated: “The important thing is to focus on football. We have a big game against Everton and more important games are coming in the next few months.

No wonder David de Gea is regarded as the best in business among goalkeepers. On another disappointing night for Manchester United, the Spaniard produced a world class show.
United were left with a 0-1 defeat in the hands of Juventus in a crucial Champions League encounter at Old Trafford.
Cristiano Ronaldo set the goal in the 17th minute with a brilliant cross that saw Pablo Dybala slot home from close range. Ronaldo wasn’t just done there. He had De Gea made a save from a free-kick with a powerful strike before extracting a world class save in the 2nd half.
It was indeed a glorious team move as Juventus combined well with Miralem Pjanic, before being picked out by former Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado on the edge of the box. Ronaldo hit an extraordinary first-time strike that was heading in the top corner.
But De Gea tipped it over the bar in stunning fashion.

It would have been some goal for the former United legend. Ronaldo was superb with his powerful shot, but credit to De Gea for doing what he does best. No wonder the Spaniard is the best goalkeeper in the world.

The save draw a lot of attention from pundits and fans alike on social media sites. Some even called it the save of the season already.

Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his thoughts on facing Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The Portuguese international will be returning to his former chomping grounds to face the Red Devils for only the second time since his departure from England.
The first time he revisited Old Trafford was with Real Madrid back in 2013, wherein Jose Mourinho’s Galacticos controversially knocked the Mancunian giants out in the Round of 16, in what turned out to be Sir Alex Ferguson’s final Champions League fixture.
Ronaldo, who scored the decisive goal that eliminated Manchester United back then, has now claimed that he is once again up for the task, and that his current team is just as capable of beating the Reds and winning the game on Tuesday.

Question marks over his commitment to the team, leadership skills, and most of all, his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho, have all raised speculation that a move away from Manchester could be in the offing.
And Goal are now reporting that Pogba’s woes at United have been noticed by one certain Brazilian superstar who is keen to bring the Frenchman to Paris. That, of course, being PSG sensation Neymar Jr.
The Brazilian is said to be good friends with Pogba, and has sounded his mate over possibilities of a move to PSG. It seems unlikely that the move can take place this season, however, with PSG coming under the scanner for possible Financial Fair Play violations.
